California Coast Beer Co.
Creating a lifestyle brand that represents the California roots of the business while connecting with their craft beer audience.
The Client
A new business venture that dove into the craft brewery industry in hopes to create something bigger than just beer.
The Challenge
Starting from scratch, this new business needed to invest in a strong brand so that they hit the ground running in their competitive market. Being in the alcohol industry, the brand needed to encompass more than just the product but a lifestyle that was true to the founders and the audience they wished to reach.
The Strategy
Focusing heavily on a strategic approach to connect with the shared psychographic (rather than a targeted demographic), we were able to intentionally create a brand that connected on an emotional level and represented the lifestyle the client wished to reach.
The Design
The design of the brand’s identity followed the strategy closely by creating something that people would want to wear while still maintaining recognizability and uniqueness. The bear has gained much attention as craft beer patrons enjoy the movement and tone delivered by the design and concept. They love the hidden elements of the design as well as they discover the hidden pint of beer in the bear’s mouth as well as the two California native trees hidden in the legs of the bear. This adds interest as well as fun talking points to encourage word-of-mouth among friends and family.
The Creative Solution*
The combination of design and brand strategy created a memorable, scalable lifestyle brand. The identity became more than a logo for the business: it became sought-after merchandise customers could wear, share, and use to signal connection with the California Coast Beer Co. community.
