Brand Story and Narrative

You’ve most likely heard about the importance of your brand having a story by now. Yes, there are different models out in the business world that follow the story structures like the Hero’s Journey where the guide(your brand) guides the customer(the hero) on their journey. Although this is important, we believe a story is only as powerful as its narrative.

The problem with stories is that they can all start to sound the same since they are based on the same structures. This is where the creative narrative comes in to differentiate and relate. The story becomes more alive, effective, and special when it has your unique point of view and perspective infused in it. This is the narrative spin you bring to the story. This is what separates Star Wars from Harry Potter, the narrative elevates the story to new heights where it is empowered to have more character, themes, and framing that makes the overall story unique. This unique narrative brings more value to the entire brand as it is your unique identifier, your fingerprint, for your business that not only gives guidance to your messaging, tone, visuals, and experiences but protects your business from the competition. Story is like a business model, it is a structure and sequence that anyone can do. The narrative is the unique interpretation of the story based on your point of view. This makes it distinct and relatable. The narrative is the foundation of brand.
