Being recently acquired, Bonny Doon Vineyard was looking for a refresh to deliver more value to its loyal following while also reaching more like-minded individuals who appreciate unique and extraordinary wines.
The Challenge
Growing the wine membership beyond just Bonny Doon Vineyard to expand its audience and continue to deliver unique wines from out of this world.
The Strategy
Develop a reimagined wine membership that caters to existing members, but opens it to deeper exploration of novel wines that are exclusive to the members. The D.E.W.N. (Distinctive Explorative Wine Network) name is leveraged and used to pursue the essence of a secret society that still has references to the Bonny Doon theme throughout.
The Design
The membership’s visual identity and design of the exclusive wines needed to be in harmony as they reflect the Bonny Doon brand, but increase the horizon and reach of the brand.
The Creative Solution*
The creative concept of elevating the membership to that of a secret society brings a sense of imaginative play and increases the value by being able to enhance the brand’s overall experience at every touchpoint. It also gives clear direction for the exclusive wines and is a memorable experience that members will tell friends and family about.
The Results
The enhanced design of the wine labels led to the winning of a National Wine Industry Design Award in 2023 which Bonny Doon had been striving to accomplish for several years.
